The eXplorist XL is a rugged GPS navigator designed for outdoor use. The casing is water resistant and the unit itself is encased in rubber armour. This means that you can take the unit on the most treacherous of outings and rest assured that you'll still be able to find your way home.

 There's an internal 30MB memory for storing maps and this can be expanded through SD cards. With a clear 3.5in LCD screen there's plenty of room for detail and route information to be displayed.
You can store up to five different tracks for cross-country hikes each with as many as 2,000 points along the way. The software is clever enough to work out the distance between two points and the elevation between those. So you'll never again set off without realising there’s a massive hill waiting for you. |

 As the eXplorist XL is designed for long-term use it takes the easily available AA type batteries and these can provide an impressive 19 hours of use.
If you're always in the great outdoors hiking or cycling then the Magellan eXplorist XL is certainly the GPS receiver for you. The well-built and protected unit is perfect for those wet and windy days out on the moors. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of the dedicated in-car systems but it'll keep going in the most treacherous of environments.
